Learning English with us will improve your communication skills, and can help you to gain work or progress to further study.
Our ESOL courses are designed to improve your knowledge and skills in reading, writing, speaking, grammar and vocabulary and listening, and also include maths and employability skills. There are five different levels of study, and you will have an initial assessment to make sure you start learning at the level that’s right for you. We even have a course specifically designed to help you prepare for your IELTS exam.
Whether you're permanently or temporarily living in the UK, here for work, or here for study, our experienced team of expert tutors is here to help you improve your English and gain a recognised qualification.
ESOL for Y11 Full-Time Study Programme
Our ESOL Y11 course is designed for secondary school age students who may have recently arrived in the borough or are not able to engage with the school curriculum due to low level of English. Our discreet ESOL Y11 at Entry level 1 and 2 will give students the essential skills in English and help them improve their maths, digital skills and employability skills. Our Y11 ESOL full time study programme will have embedded enrichment activities which will help young students integrate into college life and gain new skills. Our holistic and flexible approaches enable students to gain qualifications, become strong and resilient young citizens to fulfil their potential. Our tutorial sessions cover different range of workshops and offer support to all young people. We are placing well-being in the heart of the curriculum offer to make sure all students are supported through their learning journey with us. The core aim of the course is to help young people gain qualifications and progress onto next steps of higher level ESOL courses. Our course will be a bridging course that will meet the needs of the local community and help young people succeed and have better outcomes. ESOL Y11 course will run from Monday to Friday (25 hrs per week) at our Clapham campus.
ESOL 16-18
If you're aged 16-18 and speak English as a second language (ESOL), you can study from Pre-Entry to Level 1 .You will also have the chance to complete additional Units with our brand new Vocational Tasters for E3 and L1 groups.
ESOL Plus (Adults)
We offer a number of courses you can study alongside your ESOL course or by itself. You will learn new skills to help you to be better prepared for finding work and move onto to higher level courses. The courses are taught by ESOL teachers to help you build confidence and improve communication skills for living and working in the UK.
Functional Skills Maths for ESOL Learners
We offer part time Functional Skills Maths courses to ESOL learners, taught by ESOL teachers. You will gain a better understanding of the English language used in Maths questions and working out Maths problems. This will help you to achieve a Maths qualification. It is important to gain Maths qualifications for getting a job or progressing to a higher-level course.
IT & Digital Skills for ESOL learners
Th part time courses will help you learn how to use a computer for learning, at work and at home. You will also learn the skills needed to communicate remotely and use simple functions online. The skills you gain will help you to be come more confident in using technology and help you progress in work and learning as well as in your personal life.
Entry 3 Award ESOL for Health & Social Care (Gateway)
The course will provide an opportunity for ESOL students to gain a qualification in Health & Social care alongside their ESOL qualifications in order to provide some familiarity with industry requirements and build relevant contextualised language to assist progression. The course also provides a taster for ESOL students so that can make links to any transferable skills that are useful for them to be aware of and build confidence around assignments and portfolio building. The course will be offered AM weekday to support students fit in work and childcare commitments.
Entry 3 Award ESOL for Construction (Gateway)
The course is aimed at ESOL students either already working in the construction sector or looking to find a job in the sector. It will help build vocabulary and confidence around vocabulary used around health and safety to support students gain an insight into the sector as well as support in becoming familiar with language that may appear in a CSCS health & safety assessment. ESOL students will also be able to fit the course around their ESOL courses to support their progression. The course will be delivered in the evenings to support students access the course more easily where they may be at work or trying to find work.
The courses are aligned to the local labour market demands and the perceived areas for growth as outlined in the Skills strategy. We anticipate there to be growth in these areas that will support the local community be better prepared for employment opportunities.
